‘The Tempest’ 30 sec video promo.

Some promo vids don’t need a script - just a thought starter. To create a 30 second promo video for Black Swan’s upcoming show ‘The Tempest’, we provided our signature ‘brain dump’ of headlines, visual mood boards and conceptual ideas, which inspired the finished 30 second promo video.


This was the concept:

‘Killing Time’

400 years on, The Tempest has strong parallels with the hectic modern world we live in today (social media, online wars, battle for truth etc). Like the characters in the Tempest, we too are all at sea, stranded in our own islands of madness, killing time indulging our own delusions and desires. Confused, disorientated - this is what we want the audience to feel like walking out of the theatre.

Direction: create a surreal, dream-like sequence in the aftermath of the storm and shipwreck, where time almost stands still. Use elements of earth, wind, fire and water to convey the big themes of the play.

These were the words we wrote:

Some dreams you wake from.

Some dreams awaken you.

And this was the finished product:
